NEVER LATE & TIME ENOUGH

Mixed Media Dioramas set in a vintage clock cases

In exploring the theme of boundaries, the artist was overwhelmed by the vastness of the term. From the mundane to the metaphysical, perceived and actual boundaries are everywhere. However, as the exhibition deadline loomed, she could not shake the pervading and insistent concept of time. These pieces consider timekeeping as a human construct, presenting a juxtaposition between the clock case and components, plus the timeless land and seascapes contained within.

Never late imagines nature bursting into existence inside a clock case, pushing aside the minutes and seconds in a successful attempt to simply ‘be’. Nature is never late, and does not hurry.
Again, juxtaposed with a clock case, an ancient landscape, inspired by Cass ny Hawin, Santon, Isle of Man, nestles inside Time Enough. Safe within our modern borders we need no longer inhabit this promontory spot, yet the land here, where the river meets the sea, has been shown to have been used by humans for over 9,000 years. The eroded iron age fort that can be seen there still today evokes ideas of defence and protection, serious and strong, yet now gone from all living memory. What remains is what has always been - beauty and timelessness.
