Gillian has no usual way of working. Each painting is a voyage of discovery and is unpredictable as the narrative arrives through the process. She sees the illustrated painting as an amalgamation of two disparate ideas/images giving rise to something which is more than the sum of the individual parts, referring to the Gestalt Theory. She also draws upon Arthur Koestler's theories in his book 'The Act of Creation'.
With a BA in Painting from the Chelsea School of Art and an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art, Gillian has won awards from the Arts Council of Great Britain and exhibited in London, Spain and the Isle of Man.
