Greg draws in the ancient Pictish style using techniques that date back over 1,000 years. He has taken these primal skills and applies them to modern subjects, twisting and adapting them to create new images, vibrant and modern in their appeal. Although comfortable using traditional patterns in his work he is never happier than when he is experimenting, and creating his own unique variations.
His work will often include a combination of ancient and modern patterns. The secret is in a seamless blend of the two. He predominantly works in pencil and pen, but can use a variety of medium, including computer generated colouring.
Greg has recently produced a book on how to draw some of the original Pictish designs. There are ten patterns to try, with several more variations. The book is very easy to follow with step by step instructions.
