Jean grew up in the war years and had no real art training., however she was encouraged by a Nun when she attended Notre Dame Convent in Woolwich London. This encouragement resulted in her passing 5
Royal Society of Art exams with honours, which granted her a placement with the Society which she never took up. She was pushed into a secretarial way of life, unfortunately temporarily abandoning the art she'd grown to love.
