Kate has taught printmaking and 2d design at University College Isle of Man, and sells her work around the world via online shops, exhibitions, artisan markets and commissions.
The heart of her practice is experimentation and process. Inspiration comes from all areas of life, emotion and philosophy. Simple print illustrations begin with a quote from literature (a book, play or poem), and other work evolves from a walk, a memory, an emotion, an appreciation of natural form and the environment. Experimenting in a mixture of mediums and techniques, including, print, paint, collage and clay. All that comes to the surface, does so through simple layers or more complex journeys.
There is a recurrence of floral or botanical motifs, pattern, landscape & natural shape with her work being rooted in intuitive process, which allows for a playful response to material and an accidental process - encouraging a creative journey that is not burdened by predictable outcomes. Colour, music and aesthetic play an important and intrinsic role in her work.
Kate currently co-runs the organisation 'Artreach Studios' which manages Isle Contemporary - a venue for art workshops, exhibitions and visual art events.
