Maureen Kennaugh sees her work as painting with needle, stitch and thread. Largely using free motion machine stitch, she stitches densely to build up texture and detail using many colours and shades.
Whilst enjoying producing figurative pieces, often with a humorous touch, Maureen also looks to nature, flowers and weeds for inspiration.
Before completing a City & Guilds Diploma in Stitched Textiles, as a designer/maker Maureen produced designs for magazines such as 'Classic Stitches' and 'Needlework'. She has exhibited work both on and off-island and has won prizes in juried exhibitions in England.
